Cleveland butcher recognised among Australia’s best
Local favourite George’s Gourmet Meats at Cleveland Central has earned national recognition, taking out 2nd place in Australia in the gourmet/open class sausage category at the Australian Meat Excellence Awards.
The award-winning product? Their standout Canadian Pork and Maple sausage, judged among the best in the country.
A national stage for local excellence
Held in Melbourne on 19 March and hosted by the Australian Meat Industry Council, the awards celebrate the very best butchers and smallgoods makers nationwide, bringing together leading competitions including Sausage King and national charcuterie awards.

Alongside their national placing, George’s Gourmet Meats delivered an impressive medal haul:

- 🥇 Gold – Middle Bacon Rashers
- 🥇 Gold – Honey Kabana
- 🥈 Silver – Dry Cured Maple Espresso Bacon
- 🥈 Silver – Chilli Cheese Kransky
Owner George Alderson was also named a finalist in the Smallgoods Young Achiever Award, recognising emerging talent across the industry.
